GableGotwals Shareholder John Russell Confirmed by U.S. Senate to Serve in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma

December 20, 2023 | GableGotwals Shareholder, John D. Russell, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to become a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma. John was nominated by President Joe Biden on October 24 and appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on November 15, before his confirmation by the full Senate on December 19, 2023.

At GableGotwals, John practices commercial litigation, handles civil and criminal cases across multiple industry sectors, and represents clients before trial and appellate courts and federal and state regulator agencies. John is well respected among the legal community and has been continuously recognized by Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, and is named AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Ratings. Most recently, John was inducted as a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers.

John is a former federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma, and a former Trial Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division.

He is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma College of Law.
