Chris Shrock is an associate at GableGotwals, where he focuses his practice on intellectual property, including patent prosecution, litigation, licensing, and portfolio management; trademark and copyright law; and trade secret litigation. His electrical engineering background provides valuable insight into his practice of assisting clients ranging from start-ups to multi-national and global organizations within the energy, heavy equipment, and manufacturing industries. Chris’ patent practice is also informed by his philosophy research on the nature of sense perception and scientific discovery.
He is licensed to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the state of Oklahoma.
Prior to joining the Firm, Chris was an intern and patent agent at The University of Tulsa, where he evaluated the university’s patent portfolio, drafted marketing materials, accepted inventor disclosures, and reviewed work conducted by outside counsel.
Chris received his bachelor of science in electrical engineering from TU, where he graduated cum laude, completed the Honors Program, and conducted research in optics. He went on to receive a master’s in arts in historical theology at Harding School of Theology and a Ph.D. in philosophy at Baylor University before obtaining his J.D. at TU. While at TU, he served as the Notes Editor of the Energy Law Journal and placed in the graduate division of the Love’s Entrepreneur’s Cup, a statewide collegiate business plan competition that simulates the real-world process of researching a market, writing a business plan and making a presentation to potential investors.
