Alex Telarik is Of Counsel at GableGotwals, where his practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, oil and gas litigation, and appellate law. His experience includes shareholder disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, business sale issues, commercial contract disputes, tortious interference with business relations, and breach of fiduciary duty.
His energy litigation practice includes issues related to oil and gas accounting, pollution, title disputes, lease cancellation, and the Oklahoma Surface Damages Act. Alex has also presented to the Tulsa County Bar Association’s Mineral Law and Litigation sections on the topic “Unearthing Oklahoma’s Surface Damages Act: Navigating Challenges from New Technology.”
While in law school, Alex served as an Articles Editor on the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law. He also received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Business Litigation.
Representative Experience*
- Obtained dismissal of plaintiffs’ appeal to Oklahoma Supreme Court for oil and gas operator where plaintiffs alleged oil and gas operator had polluted surface and maintained dangerous electrical system.
- Secured partial summary judgment for defendant former oil and gas working interest owner by obtaining ruling that leases in which plaintiff claimed an interest violated Rule Against Perpetuities.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of national restaurant chain on customer’s claims of negligence and products liability relating to hot food item. Retained ruling on appeal by securing affirmance from Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals and denial of certiorari by Oklahoma Supreme Court.
- Defeated foreign judgment creditor’s attempt to obtain writ of mandamus from Oklahoma Supreme Court seeking to allow foreign judgment creditor to garnish over $1 million from bank account of energy company.
