David Herber is an associate at GableGotwals, where his practice focuses on administrative and regulatory law, energy and environmental law, bankruptcy, insurance, and various other commercial disputes.
Before joining the Firm, David served as Deputy General Counsel in the Executive Office of Governor J. Kevin Stitt, where he advised the Governor and his Office on various issues related to administrative law, state ethics rules, elections, and criminal law. Prior to his time in the Governor’s Office, he worked at an Oklahoma City law firm where his practice included a wide-range of business litigation and transactional matters. David also served as a Judicial Extern to Chief Judge Joe Heaton in the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma and as a Summer Law Clerk in the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Oklahoma. Additionally, he worked as a Research Assistant for the Editor-in-Chief of the American Business Law Journal.
David graduated with Distinction from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. At OU, he was on the Oklahoma Law Review where he served as an Assistant Articles Editor and was a member of the Judiciary Committee. He also served as Vice President of OU Law’s chapter of the Federal Bar Association. David earned numerous honors during law school, including the Salem Civil Rights Award, the Cole Adwon Scholarship, the Alan & Anita Holloway Scholarship, the Oklahoma Scholars Scholarship, and Best 1L Appellate Brief. Prior to entering law school, David worked for several years as a Field Representative for Congressman Frank Lucas.
