Blaine Schwabe is of counsel at GableGotwals. For more than four decades, Blaine has been widely known for his experience in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and insolvency law, having guided numerous clients though difficult and complex civil litigation, business bankruptcy, and receivership cases across a wide range of industries. His cases have included issues of business litigation, including reorganization, liquidation, exit financing, competing creditor claims, transfer avoidance and offset litigation, breach of fiduciary duty, statutory and court-appointed receivers, foreclosure actions, lien enforcement actions, and other various complexities. Blaine understands the intricacies of business and insolvency litigation from perspectives of creditors, debtors, committees, trustees and receivers, giving him insight into these difficult cases.
Blaine has served as Adjunct Professor of Law at the Oklahoma City University College of Law and as special lecturer in law at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Blaine has been active in community activities, is currently a member of Rotary Club of Oklahoma City (Club 29) and Leadership Oklahoma City. He is also a member of Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

- Counsel for continuum of care senior community as debtor-in-possession in chapter 11 bankruptcy case involving bond financing, tort judgment claim and other creditor interests resolved by confirmed reorganization plan
- Counsel for multiple employer welfare benefit plan as debtor-in-possession in complex chapter 11 bankruptcy case, concluding with confirmed plan within one year of case commencement, and post-confirmation counsel for liquidation trustee
- Counsel for unsecured creditors’ committees in chapter 11 cases and in post-confirmation plan litigation
- Representation of parent company of Oklahoma domiciled life insurance company in rehabilitation proceedings commenced by Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, as statutory receiver, and related defense of policyholder class action
- Counsel for debtors-in-possession in jointly administered, substantively consolidated chapter 11 bankruptcy cases of debtors formed to acquire and build-out coast-to-coast broadband network, resulting in confirmed plan and successful post-confirmation litigation through litigation trust
- Asset-based secured creditor representations in chapter 11 bankruptcy cases relating to debtor-in-possession and exit financing.
- Counsel for competitive local exchange carrier as debtor-in-possession in chapter 11 bankruptcy case, in which plan was confirmed effecting resolution of claims of regional bell operating companies and other incumbent local exchange carriers, and other disputes
- Representation of bank in bankruptcy cases of debtors in business of credit card debt servicing relating to numerous claims against debtors, issues among competing case creditors and defense of offset litigation resulting in reversal of bankruptcy court in circuit court of appeals decision
- Counsel for cellular telephone company against regional bell operating company regarding claims for breaches of fiduciary duty and of partnership agreement, resulting in substantial judgment affirmed on appeal to circuit court of appeals
- Representation of Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, as statutory receiver, in delinquency proceedings against Oklahoma insurance company with offices in New Jersey, regarding all aspects of receivership, liquidation and claims
