Adam Doverspike is a shareholder at GableGotwals. He focuses his practice on complex civil litigation, state and local government affairs, administrative law, and appellate matters. Adam has represented a wide variety of clients, including pharmaceutical manufacturers, government entities, universities, construction companies, and energy corporations. His complex and business litigation work includes False Claims Act defense, partnership dissolution issues, class action matters, employment discrimination claims, trade secret protection, construction payment disputes, and breach of warranty actions. Adam has handled arbitrations, jury trials in state and federal court, and negotiated settlements for his clients.
Adam’s complex civil litigation experience includes managing a nation-wide multi-district litigation, coordinating litigation teams in quick-moving injunctive relief situations to protect client trade secrets, and overseeing litigation teams in efficiently handling large-scale discovery review and production. Adam’s federal litigation experience includes False Claims Act defense, federal trade secret injunctions, and negotiated resolution in disputed employment and business lawsuits.
Adam’s energy work includes preparing comments on EPA rulemaking concerning proposed hydraulic fracturing regulations and assisting a natural gas utility through the state ratemaking process at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. He has counseled energy clients regarding environmental issues, eminent domain policies, data security and privacy issues, and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Adam’s government affairs and administrative agency work includes representing a municipal trust, navigating the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, challenging and defending initiative petitions, and pursuing administrative challenges to city zoning decisions. Adam also served as outside counsel to a municipal trust, ensuring compliance with Oklahoma Open Records Act and Open Meeting Act requirements.
Adam has drafted appellate briefs on a range of issues, including the application of the Class Action Fairness Act, the scope of the ministerial exception under the First Amendment, the application of the Establishment Clause, and the Compensation Clause of the United States Constitution. He has written arguments presented to the Oklahoma Supreme Court, several Circuit Courts and amicus arguments presented to the U.S. Supreme Court in Hosanna-Tabor v. EEOC and Beer v. United States.
Prior to joining the Firm, Adam clerked for Judge Gregory K. Frizzell at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma and practiced for three years in Sidley Austin, LLP’s Washington, DC Energy Practice Group. Before law school, he researched economic and development issues at the Federal Reserve and the World Bank.
Adam currently serves as an Adjunct Settlement Judgement in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma.
